It is very common for customers to ask us if they should consider buying or renting their storage containers. This question can be answered by considering two things: longevity of project and convenience.
Portable Storage Duration
A common cut-off point to consider is 20-24 months. If you will require the storage containers to be on-site for less than two years, you should consider renting. If your project is longer than two years, you should consider buying the unit. The reason is the cost of rent over 2 years will be very close to the upfront cost of purchasing a portable storage unit.
Convenience
The other factor to consider is the ongoing maintenance of the unit itself. We pledge to deliver a unit that will arrive wind and rain proof as well as air-tight. However, the nature of many job sites creates an environment where wear and tear are common. It not unreasonable to expect that you could see some need for repairs. If you have a storage container rental, we will cover the costs of the repairs. If you purchase the unit, you will be responsible for the repairs and ongoing service.
Like many things, it boils down to cost analysis and convenience. We encourage our customers to consider each model to help them stay within their budget but we also encourage them to consider the savings of time that a rental can provide over the life of the portable storage container rental project. If you have any questions in this area, please call us and we will consider your specific needs and provide a recommendation that we believe suits your needs.
