Portable Storage in Whittier

We have delivered portable storage containers in Whittier since 1977 from our Los Angeles location. The city has seen an incredible amount of development over the last 30-40 years and it is a lovely neighborhood in Los Angeles County.

Whittier is a suburb of Los Angeles, located just 12 miles from downtown. This city is not nearly the largest city in LA with an estimated 90,000 in population in 2010. The city has grown steadily however, with 83,680 in 2000 and 77,800 in 1990. Our portable storage units have supported the growth in the area.

Uniquely, the city is named for a respected Quaker named John Greenleaf Whittier. The city itself was formed by individuals in the Quaker religion. Oddly enough, John Whittier never actually visited the city.
Whittier college is one of the oldest universities in the country. It was formed in 1891 however the parcel of land was set aside in 1887. This was long before the time of using portable storage container rental in Whittier for on-site construction.

Like many towns in California, Whittier was near the epicenter of an earthquake in 1987 which registered 5.9 on the Richter scale. There was a great deal of structure damage to Whittier’s historic buildings and renovation was required. During this time, many shipping containers were deployed to the area.

Whittier is composed of a couple different neighborhoods. Uptown Whittier includes the area around Philadelphia Street and Greenleaf Avenue. Central Park and Hadley-Greenleaf are north of Uptown and these are more of the historical districts with old craftsmen and Spanish colonial homes. Starlite Estates is the upscale neighbored that sets foot in the north hills whereas College Hills includes the area around Whittier College. East Whittier is an area that is more agricultural and might have involved more storage units.

The city is home to a number of school districts and High Schools in the area. Affordable housing can also lend the city to being a nice place to raise a family. The only higher education schools in the city are Rio Hondo College and Whittier College. Some of the zip codes in Whittier include 90601, 90606, 90604, and 90605.

One of the nicest things about Whittier is its historical buildings and historical charm. There are many buildings that go back in time and are all great examples of many different types of architecture. The city landscape and buildings also attract movies and television shows to film in its streets. Some of the popular films or tv shows include Ali, Terminator 3, Blow, The Wonder Years, Hocus Pocus, Father of the Bride Part II, Back to the Future, and Back to the Future Part II.
