Hot Desert Weather

Peoria shares the hot, arid climate that Arizona is known for with temperatures reaching the 100’s during the summer months. For this reason, it is important to consider what you are putting in your portable storage units, especially when they are outside. Peoria is mostly flat, but the Northern area of the city has many small mountain ranges. Some of these mountains include: West Wing Mountain, East Wing Mountain, Cholla Mountain, Sunrise Mountain, and Calderwood Butte.

Big Plans for Development

Peoria started major developments during the second half of the twentieth century, and continues major developments today. It was the fifth fastest growing city during the 90’s, the population increased by 114% during this decade. During the population growth, storage container rental services were needed to support construction. Peoria has implemented its General Plan for development, which was created in 2001. In 1999 the land surrounding the Lake Pleasant Regional Park was added to Peoria, which offered room for expansion. The government of Peoria is also working on restoring and revitalizing the historic center and Old Town to attract more visitors to the area.

The Peoria Sports Complex, located on Bell Road, was an exciting addition to Peoria in 1994. The sports complex is the spring training site of the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. The stadium is also used for the Vans Warped tour, and has been since 2002. The Peoria Sports Complex has brought business and tourism to the area, the shopping district, the Arrowhead Fountains Center, has grown exponentially since the sport center’s opening. The center holds countless events every year, and there are dozens of restaurants and hotels on Bell Road to cater to the attendees.

Developing Art Influence

The Peoria Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2007. This is an intimate center with a 250- seat theatre and a 100- seat black box theatre. The “Theatre Works” Company runs the center. It was awarded best new playhouse by the Phoenix News Times in 2008. Westlake Reed Leskosky designed the building and portable storage container rental were used on-site during building.

Even with all of the population growth and city development, the city’s government is still increasing its conservation plans and need for portable storage container rental units in Peoria. In 1999 the Desert Lands Master Conservation Plan was initiated, and in 2004 the Desert Lands Conservation Ordinance was instated. These plans, along with other conservation efforts, have ensured that more than 4,000 acres of beautiful natural desert landscape are preserved. This includes much of Northern Peoria’s mountain ranges.
