Montclair is a city in San Bernardino County, California. Montclair is minutes away from the LA/Ontario airport, the Scandia Amusement Park, California Speedway, and the Bonelli Regional Park. Bonelli Park covers 975 acres of land. Visitors can engage in an endless assortment of activities, including biking, camping, hiking, horse back riding, bird watching, and golfing. Visitors can enjoy the many beautiful nature trails and the on site water park. Bonelli Park hosts many walks and races for causes every year. There has been a lot of development in the urbanized areas of Montclair, which required shipping containers to support the construction.
The Native American population of the Serrano Tribe first inhabited the area of Montclair, specifically along what is now San Antonio Creek. In 1897 a small township, called “Township of Marquette” was established in the area. Just three years later, a 1,000-acre plot of land was established as Monte Vista. Another township called Nardo was established seven years later. The Nardo area was mostly used for citrus tree cultivation through the 1950’s.
The Montclair area became more residential after World War II, and it became officially incorporated as a city in 1956. At this time the area was still refered to as Monte Vista and storage containers were not that popular yet. The Post Office refused to open shop in Monte Vista because it shared a name with another city in California, which would cause confusion. Because of this, the city was renamed Montclair on April 8, 1958.
The city of Montclair is currently undergoing economic development and portable storage units are supporting the growth, as you might expect. The North Montclair Downtown Specific Plan was adopted on May 15, 2006. This plan has three main aspects of development: the housing tract, shopping center, and business park. The plan focuses on creating community based spaces with a home-like village feel. The civic buildings will be meeting places that unite the community of Montclair.
Montclair’s prime location places it in close proximity to many higher teaching institutions. These schools include the Claremont Colleges, and many prestigious state schools. You can find many storage container rentals on these campuses as additional space is needed.
