La Mesa Portable Storage

La Mesa is a city in California, and it is part of San Diego County and is served by our San Diego location which provides storage containers in La Mesa. La Mesa was founded in 1869, and incorporated into the county in 1912. The Centennial of the city is coming up next year, and the people of La Mesa are already well into the planning stages of this great celebration. The official flower of La Mesa is the bougainvillea, and the official tree is the Plum Tree.

The Mesa

La Mesa is Spanish for tabletop, and this refers to the city’s geography. Missionaries from Spain inhabited the area; they lived in the Mission San Diego de Alcala. La Mesa covers 9 square miles, and it is 12 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. It is known as the “jewel of the hills”. La Mesa is West of El Cajon, South and East of San Diego, and North of Lemon Grove. La Mesa has a semi-arid steppe climate. It is warmer than most costal cities, it does not experience the marine layers that happen every June on the coast. The steel storage containers manage quite well despite the humidity.

Lots of History

Many homes in La Mesa are deemed historical sites. One of the historic sites is the Old Post Office Building on La Mesa Boulevard. La Mesa also has a secret set of stairs that were built for local foot traffic. In total, 245 steps make up the secret path. Once a climber reaches the top, they have reached the highest point in La Mesa, at 830 feet elevation. From there, you can enjoy a great view and might even spot a few portable storage containers in La Mesa. The stairs are located in the Mt. Nebo/Windsor Hills area; they are a treat to discover. La Mesa also has many spacious parks, including Aztec Park, Jackson Park, and Sunset Park.

Local Produce

La Mesa hosts a farmers market every Friday from three to six in La Mesa Village. Every Fourth of July, La Mesa hosts the Flag Day Parade, which does not involve that many portable storage container rental. Counsel woman Ruth Sterling started this tradition in 1997. La Mesa also holds an exciting Oktoberfest festival ever year, with more than 200,000 people attending over a three day period. Every summer La Mesa holds the Back to the 50’S Car Show. Attendance is free to this event, which happens along La Mesa Boulevard every Thursday night of the summer months. Residents line their cars up for spectators to admire.
