Claremont, CA

Portable Storage Corp has provided portable storage containers in Claremont for over thirty years. We are proud to serve the city. Claremont, California is a desirable residential city located just 30 miles East of downtown Los Angeles. Claremont is part of the Inland Empire of Southern California. In 2007 Claremont was rated as the fifth best place to live in United States, which landed it as first best place to live in California. This award is justified by Claremont’s impeccable school system, beautiful tree lined residential areas, and convenient location near the beach, downtown LA, and the wild of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Claremont is essentially a college town. It is home to a seven-college consortium, which is made up of Claremont McKenna College, Scripps College, Harvey Mudd College, Pomona College, Pitzer College, Claremont Graduate University, and Keck Graduate Institute. The development of these colleges did require substantial portable storage units. Pomona College was founded in 1887 and was the first college of the consortium. The vision of the college at its creation- “a New England style college in a garden”, still rings true today for 1,500 undergraduate students. Claremont Graduate University was founded in 1925, and Scripps College, and all women’s college, followed the next year. Claremont McKenna College, founded in 1946, offers a liberal arts education and is also the location of the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance. Claremont McKenna’s motto reflects its specialization in Economics: “civilization prospers with commerce.” The Harvey Mudd College was founded 9 years later, and it offers a more specific education in the sciences: physical and biological science, engineering, mathematics, and computer science. The growth of the colleges has sparked increases in jobs around the area. To support this growth, land developers have needed shipping containers for rent in Claremont.

These schools are all highly renowned for the level of education offered. Claremont’s economy benefits from the colleges by supplying the city with 3,000 jobs and student consumers. In total, the consortium is approximately 1 square mile, and all of the colleges are conveniently in walking distance from one another. The consortium structure offers students a personal tailored educational experience within a larger school setting with maximum resources.

The presence of the 7 University’s has allowed Claremont to develop its shopping complexes and residential areas. “The Village” is a shopping complex made up of restaurants, shops, hotels and entertainment venues. The Metrolink offers commuter train transportation. The Northern portion of Claremont has transformed from expansive orange groves and agricultural land to residential complexes and large houses. The last wave of construction in 2003 was pared with the establishment of a 1,740-acre wilderness park.

Claremont was awarded winner of the National Arbor Day’s Association Tree City USA 22 times in a row. The residential streets in Claremont are lined with beautiful trees. The tree planting started at beginning of the 20th century when the first dwellers settled in the area. Now Claremont is known as “the city of trees and PhD’s”.
