Around 3,000 jobs have been created in Chandler since 2007. These jobs have appeared especially in the Southern portion of Chandler, with the emergence of three new shopping centers. The rise of these developments involved a great deal of portable storage containers for rent in Chandler. One of these is the Chandler Fashion Center, which has been in business since 2001. The addition of these shopping malls has made Southern Chandler more ideal for consumers.
The Northern portion of Chandler receives more economic help from its historic attractions. The historic part of Chandler has current plans for redevelopment in 7 locations and shipping containers will be deployed to support this effort. There are currently shops, office buildings, and the Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort, all built with unique architecture. One major redevelopment will involve a new parking lot design.
Chandler was supported by an agriculture economy in the 19th century and early 20th century. Cotton, alfalfa and corn were Chandler’s major crops. Curiously enough, Chandler was known for raising ostrich at the beginning of the 20th century, when ostrich feathers were an accessory at the height of women’s fashion. Trends changed, but the Ostrich farming continued, and now Chandler is known for its annual Ostrich Festival.
Now Chandler’s economy has support from the high technology manufacturing companies. About 25% of the work force (not including government employees) work for technology manufacturing companies. Intel is based in Chandler, and operates on at least four locations. One of these locations is deemed “environmentally sustainable” by the LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design criteria.
The Snedigar Recreation Center is a park in Chandler; it used to be part of the site of the Milwaukee Brewers spring training. The largest baseball field with the stadium was built in 1985 and is still there today. The Arizona Railway Museum is located in Chandler’s Tumbleweed Park. Chandler also has a Center for the Arts, which holds 1,500 audience members, and is located downtown. There are development plans for a Holocaust and Tolerance Museum, which may also involve portable storage container rentals in Chandler. Chandler has pledged 2 million towards its construction, but more funding is needed to begin the project. Ian Baldinger from RSP architects designed the museum. Given Arizona’s heat in the summer, we always remind renters to consider what they are putting in their storage containers.
