The actual beach in Solana Beach was open in 1925. The Fletcher Cove entrance to the Beach was created with a high- pressure water hose that eroded the land blocking the way to the beach. The Solana Beach grand opening was a festive event and happened on the Fourth of July in the year of 1925.

Eden Gardens is the oldest residential area in Solana Beach. Mexican farmers who wanted to live near the fields with their families first created it in the 1920’s. At that time the neighborhoods were referred to as La Colonia.

There are many great elementary schools, middle schools and high schools in Solana Beach. The city is served by the San Dieguito Union High School District and the Solana Beach School District. Skyline Elementary School and Solana Vista Elementary School are the two grade schools. Many of these schools use container rental units for their on-site needs. The middle school is Earl Warren Middle School. There are three major high schools: Canyon Crest Academy, Torrey Pines High School, and San Dieguito Academy.

Solana Beach offers an exciting and eclectic mix of shops, art galleries, boutiques, restaurants, surfing stores, and antique stores. This commercial district is strung along the infamous Highway 101 that runs along the Pacific Coast.

The shops attract visitors and business, but the real attractions in Solana Beach are the beautiful beaches. The three beaches are Fletcher’s Cove, Tide Beach Park, and Seascape Shores. Fletcher’s Cove features free parking, a basketball court, picnic tables, volleyball, shuffleboard, and showers. Fletcher’s Cove also has a lifeguard service. The stairs near Pacific Avenue and Solana Vista Drive reaches Tide Beach Park. This beach is known as a great snorkeling location. Many sea creatures can be seen in the tide pools just off shore. Seascape Shores is a beach just South of Fletcher’s Cove. Luckily, there are not many portable storage containers dotting the shoreline.

City Hall is located on South Highway 101 and contains the City Hal Gallery. This gallery holds a new art exhibit every month. The city of Solana Beach also supports many public art projects. The Solana Beach Coastal Rail Trail Arches were created by Betsy Schultz. Another public art project was to paint the utility boxes throughout the city. This did not include mobile storage containers, only the utility boxes. This creates a brighter and more fun atmosphere for this coastal community.
