Orange County California holds the city of Brea. We deliver storage containers to Brea CA from our Portable Storage Los Angeles location in nearby Ontario. Brea is the Spanish word for tar. The initial city development was based on crude oil production.
Citrus- based agriculture began in Brea after the city had established itself in the oil industry. Oranges and lemons were the most prominent crops.
Homes to Follow
Residential development soon followed after agriculture with heavy demand for portable storage containers in the city. In 1956 one of the first Carl’s Jr. Restaurants opened in Brea. In the 1970’s the Orange Freeway that is also called the 57 Freeway was built through Brea. The Orange Freeway brought more residential development with it especially to the East.
Today, the city has a population of over 40,000 and it has a strong retail economy. The Brea Mall is very popular and the Brea Downtown area was renovated and expanded in the 1990’s. Again, this involved steel containers that could withstand the abuse of a job-site. The downtown area boasts shops, restaurants, sidewalk bistros, movie theatres, a farmer’s market, and a live improv comedy show.
Focusing on Education
The city of Brea has a high standard when it comes to education. The Brea Olinda High School and Olinda Elementary School are both Blue Ribbon awarded schools. Many other schools in the city including: Arovista Elementary, Fanning Elementary, Olinda Elementary, Mariposa Elementary, and Country Hills Elementary have been deemed California Distinguished Schools. The city of Brea takes pride in the quality of its education.
The Brea Community Center is located on Madison Way. There are a few container rentals on the campus. The building includes a fitness center, teen zone, family resource center, and facility rentals for community events.
Dedication to the Arts
Brea also invests a lot of its energy and resource on supporting the arts. The Brea Art Gallery is in the Brea Civic and Cultural Center. It is a well- known arts center in the area. The Curtis Theatre is also located at the Civic Center. It hosts performing arts events for the community. The theatre seats 199 audience members. In 1975 the city of Brea began a large public art project that continues today. Now there are 140 pieces of artwork throughout the city as part of the program. To no one’s surprise, the units are not part of the artwork. Brea is an example for other cities that want to start a public arts program.
